On-site barista training, built around your equipment and your team

Getting great espresso out of your machine every single time takes more than decent beans. It takes confident staff who know exactly what they are doing - on your machine, with your grinder, in your environment. That is exactly what this training delivers.

Training that fits around your business

We come to you. Rather than sending your team to a generic course on unfamiliar kit, we train them on the actual equipment they use every day. That means everything they learn translates immediately - no adjustment period, no wondering whether it applies to their setup.

Each session covers four core espresso-based drinks prepared in the Italian style, the fundamentals of grinder dialling and daily maintenance, and enough sensory knowledge to help your staff guide customers through your coffee offering with confidence.

What is covered

The four core drinks

Your team will learn to prepare Espresso, Americano, Latte Macchiato and Cappuccino to a consistent standard. We focus on authentic Italian-style portions - full-flavoured, correctly measured, and properly executed. No shortcuts.

Dialling in your grinder

A grinder that is even slightly off will undermine everything else. We cover how to read an extraction, how to adjust the grind, and how to know when the dial is right - so your team can make that call every morning before the doors open.

Daily maintenance routines

Clean machines make better coffee and last longer. We walk through the daily maintenance tasks that protect your equipment and keep your drinks consistent - backflushing, group head cleaning, steam wand care, and the checks that should be habit.

Basic sensory and coffee attributes

Your front-of-house staff are your customers' first point of contact. We give them enough coffee knowledge to speak confidently about what they are serving - origin characteristics, flavour notes, the difference between your blends - so they can handle questions with ease.

Why Bankside Coffee

SCA Trained

This training is underpinned by Isaac's SCA Barista Skills Intermediate certification - the Specialty Coffee Association's internationally recognised qualification for professional barista skills. You are not getting a coffee enthusiast with a YouTube habit. You are getting structured, properly grounded training from someone who has been assessed to a recognised standard. (This training will not result in the receipt of an SCA qualification or certificate).

Your machine, your grinder, your workflow

Every espresso machine has its quirks. Every grinder has its own character. Generic training courses, however good, cannot prepare your staff for the specific feel of your equipment. By training on-site, we make sure every technique your team learns is directly applicable to what they are working with when the session ends. By being surrounded by only colleagues, there is space for trainees to ask venue specific questions from workflow to machine queries.

Practical from the first cup

This is hands-on training throughout. We do not front-load theory and then squeeze practice in at the end. Your team will be pulling shots and steaming milk from early in the session - learning by doing, with guidance alongside every step.

Built on technical expertise

Bankside Coffee combines coffee supply with specialist commercial machine maintenance and PSSR 2000 compliance. That background gives this training a depth you will not find from most providers - because understanding how a machine actually works changes how you teach people to use it.

Who this is for

This training is a good fit for you if:

  • You have just opened a new cafe or coffee bar and want to start your team on solid foundations
  • You have taken on new staff and need to bring them up to speed on your setup
  • You have noticed inconsistency creeping into your drinks and want to reset standards
  • You are an office manager wanting to make better use of a commercial machine in your break room
  • You have recently had a machine service or upgrade and want your team to make the most of it

We work with cafes, restaurants, offices, and independent businesses across North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.
